Sizes medium and up can hold three bottles (two inside the frame, one on the downtube), but every size can carry one bottle on the downtube and one bottle under the bike. Top bikes weigh in at just over 22 lbs, and all come with dropper posts.įrame features are fairly straightforward. Build kits start at the Wilder C R and continue up to a maxed-out Wilder CC with SRAM X01 AXS and the new Reserve 28 carbon wheels. Wilder CC comes in at just 1800g for a frame, swingarm, and hardware, while Wilder C weighs just 250g more without sacrificing strength, stiffness, or durability. Wilder is available with a choice of two carbon frames. But besides these and the beautiful periwinkle color, Wilder and Blur TR are very similar. The touchpoints - namely the handlebar grips and saddle - are also women’s specific. The slightly longer 120mm/115mm suspension it does come with, however, is a lighter tune made with women in mind. First and foremost, the Wilder doesn’t come in a shorter travel 100mm suspension version. That said, there are a few critical differences between the Wilder and Blur TR. Now, if you’re interested in a full tech breakdown of the Wilder, be sure to check out our first look at the Santa Cruz Blur, where we spare no expenses on offering up as many details as we could gather on the bike.ĭifferences Between the Juliana Wilder and Santa Cruz Blur This means the Wilder features a lightweight single-pivot suspension system, here offering up 115mm rear wheel travel paired to a 120mm fork.įor us and the riding that we like to do, this places the Wilder alongside the Joplin as our go-to bikes for long distances, quick lunch rides, and every sunset chasing ride this summer. The Juliana Wilder shares its bones - from geometry to build kits to price points - with the new Santa Cruz Blur TR. Starting today, the new Juliana Wilder XC mountain bike not only fills that gap, but it might also just become a go-to cross country mountain bike. Beyond the details, there are some bigger features that amplify this XC wild child’s abilities. And talking of chainstays, each chainstay length is specific to the individual frame size meaning riders of every height enjoy the same handling and performance no matter what. The head tube angle (67.1 degree) and reach (425mm) is a little steeper and shorter than a Joplin to meet the demands of aggressive climbing, yet the Wilder’s seat tube angle is a touch slacker and the chainstays a little longer than a Joplin too in order to retain that familiar Juliana confidence on descents. This unique XC-trail attitude is also reflected in the geometry. So we’ve taken all the acceleration and out-of-the-saddle sprint qualities of a carbon XC race rocket and fused them with a rear-end that still rails corners like a hardcore trail bike. Saving weight means little without retaining an appropriate level of stiffness and responsiveness too.
